We have completed our strategic plan for the next three years. We hope you will find yourself and your work, along with a bit of inspiration and motivation to join us in our shared goals.
Strategic Planning
In our 2015-2017 Strategic Plan, Americans for the Arts laid out four goals for the next three years. The work in the coming years will result in increased visibility, dialogue, casemaking, professional development, and advocacy, increasing the impact and appreciation for the arts in America. In working with artists, administrators, leaders in the public and private sector, and the general public, we will change the ways the arts are viewed and supported and work toward a better America. Below are the four goals we have in order to achieve this change:
- Lead and serve individuals and organizations to help build environments in which the arts and arts education thrive and contribute more vibrant and creative communities. We plan to achieve this goal through establishing new arts and non-arts partnerships and initiatives while strengthening existing ones, providing support, tools, and resources to arts educators and professionals, and working to grow the Arts Action Fund as a tool for supporting the arts and arts professionals.
- Generate meaningful public and private sector policies and more resources for the arts and arts education. We plan to succeed in this goal by continuing to organize public policy advocacy events in preparation for upcoming elections, supporting public initiatives at the local, state, and federal level, and promoting business partnerships through research and education of the impacts of arts on society as a whole.
- Build individual awareness and appreciation of the value of the arts and arts education. We plan to accomplish this goal through increased polling and research, utilization of mass media and visibility campaigns, and highlighting the positive impacts of the arts on people of all ages.
- Ensure the operational stability of the organization and its ability to respond creatively to opportunities and challenges. We plan to do this through improved branding and messaging, empowering members of the Artists Committee, Board of Directors, and volunteers, and cultivating strong leadership and innovative business practices, all to promote the message of Americans for the Arts.
