Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd delivered the 27th Annual Nancy Hanks Lecture on March 24 at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Dowd has covered four presidential campaigns and spent nearly a decade as a correspondent for the newspaper’s Washington bureau before moving to her position as columnist. Dowd was introduced by Americans for the Arts Artist Committee member Alec Baldwin. The evening featured performances by Zan McLeod and Celtic Borders, as well as YoungArts alumni dancers. Over 2,300 tickets were distributed for the Nancy Hanks Lecture.
