In 2017, our nation faced enormous challenges, but I was inspired by signs of strength and hope.
Because of our dedicated and creative members, passionate board and staff members, strong partnerships, and informed opinion leaders, we have been able to impact communities in every corner of the nation, helping ensure they are more healthy, vibrant, and equitable. This work would not have been possible without these partners as we work to educate our field, communicate the power of the arts to decision makers, advocate for more resources, and innovate to ensure the sustainability of the field and our organization. And our efforts to #SavetheNEA worked in 2017–thousands of targeted messages, meetings, advertisements, and opinion editorials created a needed sense of urgency toward funding the federal cultural agencies for FY2018.
Inside you will see how we are advocating for favorable local, state, and federal policies, celebrating the impact of the arts in our communities, and partnering with organizations and groups who can helps us in our efforts to bring all the arts to all the people. Thank you for the hard work that has been done, and in the critical work to come. Now, more than ever, we rely on the arts to unify our country and we know that the work happens day-to-day with your help.
Best,
