2015 Annual Convention

The 2016 Annual Convention brought together 1,000 attendees to discuss, plan, and prepare for the future of the arts landscape in America. One day prior to the Convention, Americans for the Arts hosted 3 separate preconferences focused around specific themes: Self-Awareness, Social Awareness, and Self-Management.
The Self-Awareness: Understanding & Moving Through Your Leadership & Communication Style preconference informed participants how to match appropriate leadership and communications styles to the right situation and people by articulating (through an assessment) their default style and understanding common styles.
The Social Awareness: Reading & Adapting to Various Situations & People preconference informed participants how to accurately read and adapt to various situations and people by practicing active listening, asking powerful questions, and observing body language.
The Self-Management to Improve Productivity, Relationships, & Motivation preconference brought together field leaders to explore different self-management practices to improve productivity, relationships, and motivation by applying self-regulation, self-care, and self-confidence strategies at work.

The convention featured poetry, dance, and concert performances by VSA Massachusetts, the Boston Arts Academy Spiritual Ensemble, thereminist Jon Bernhardt, Dinnersss, The Genki Spark, and Louder Than A Bomb Massachusetts Youth All Stars.
An opening reception at the Skywalk Observatory and Museum.
