2013 ANNUAL CONVENTION
June 14–16, 2013
Pittsburgh, PA
The 2013 Annual Convention brought together 858 attendees to discuss, plan, and prepare for the future of the arts landscape in America. Using Pittsburgh as a backdrop for innovation and reinvigoration, we also hosted our first-ever Arts, Entertainment & Cultural Districts preconference (alongside the Public Art Network and Emerging Leader preconferences).
Highlights include:
- Jim Messina, the man behind the successful re-election campaign of President Obama, and Dr. Manuel Pastor discussed messaging and storytelling
- Danielle Brazell, Marcio Garcia Durham, Edgar L. Smith, Jr., Molly Smith, and Dr. William E. Strickland, Jr. led a town hall discussion, delving deep into challenges and opportunities facing all of us.
- Paula Kerger of PBS and Gary E. Knell of NPR explored new roles, trends, and impacts public broadcasting can, and will, have on the arts.
Special thanks to our local hosts for our 2013 Annual Convention, the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council.
